Understanding Homeschooling Choices
Many families are reaching out to Parents for Choice in Education for information on homeschooling.
All homeschooling is not alike- and we are using the word homeschooling as a catch phrase for all students that school at home rather than in a brick and mortar school.
We thank Koinonia for explaining the options well in this document that we share: HERE.
Centre for Learning@HOME also offers and explanation of the options: HERE. They also sent out a letter to parents explaining the changes to aligned and blended school funding for the 2016/2017 school year and this can be read HERE. All home school programs are facing these changes in different ways, so contact your home school program to see how your funding for blended and aligned programs will be changed. Home education (traditional) funding will remain the same.
Contact the home education programs listed below and ask what they offer and which school board or private school authority you will be registered with if your chose to use them to assist you in your home school journey.
The location of the school board or private school authority operating each home school program is not as important as the kind of support each program offers parents and children. Don’t look at the location so much as the program (faith perspective, extra curricular group activity offerings, how teachers and facilitators will engage your children and yourselves as parents, whether they offer traditional, blended or online options, etc.)
Chose the home school program that provides the type of home schooling you feel best suits your child’s needs.
PCE hopes this helps anyone interested in exploring the option of schooling their children at home.
